Travel Day 10 on the Great Loop

After a week stay at Waterside Marina and a great rendezvous we we said goodbye to Arty and headed north up the Elizabeth River passing the Norfolk Naval Station to enter the Chesapeake Bay. Our destination is Deltaville, VA where we will be staying at the Regatta Point Yachting Center. We passed several ships on the dry and had to slide by a container ship waiting on its tow. The seas were calm the winds were light and after a week of sketchy weather the sun had finally made an appearance. We hugged the western shore of the chesapeake following my Navionics chart and watching NEBO for the other Loopers heading out to parts unknown, at least to us.

Traveling up the Chesapeake was uneventful and we just enjoyed the sun on our mile cruise which took about 6 hours where we only cruised at an average of 8 knots. We arrived at Regatta Point around 1500 hours after slowly maneuvering down the entrance channel where we had less than 3 feet under our keel.

The marina is tucked in a well protected cove on the north side of Deltaville. The marina slip holders were prepping for the Kentucky Derby in the clubhouse. We borrowed 2 bikes from the marina and road about a mile to the Jackson Creek Marina and enjoyed great food overlooking the southern bay.

We were able to get back to the boat and watch the Derby and see our neighbors on Jagger that we had met in Norfolk. Another good day on the loop is over and we plan our next few days on the Chesapeake.
