After a relaxing 3 days at Crisfield it was time to move forward and run across the Chesapeake to the Solomon Islands where we had reservations at the Beacon Marina. We left in a 3 boat flotilla of R & R, Thistle and Sea No Evil. The weather was nice but we knew we would get medium breezes on the Chesapeake and there was some fog but not blinding. As we did in Deltaville we followed our cookie crumbs and made it out of the channel and headed NW through Kedges Straights and across the chesapeake for a total of 45 miles. The waves were light making the crossing uneventful and we were able to put the auto-pilot on and make a few adjustments to dodge the container ships in the main channel.

we turned up the Patuxent River and then headed into the Back Creek following the tight channel to the north end of the creek to Beacon Marina passing several marinas and mooring fields. It is a beautiful area lined with big homes and restaurants. We arrived at our layalong dock which was in need of some repair. There was no assistance but the weather was calm and maria was well up to the task of securing the boat single handedly. The marina is attached to a Quality Inn Motel that was empty.

We were near a west Marine store which was nice because I had a side navigation light out and had to buy extra bulbs. We got our bikes out and rode to the local grocery store about 1 mile north got supplies. It was still early so we got on our bikes and headed to the south end of the peninsula to the Tiki Bar which had a food truck and a cool outside bar with a view of the Creek. We were met by Doug and Shari and after a couple cold beverages headed to the Lighthouse Rest. and Dock Bar and had some dinner. It was a short bike ride back to the boat and a good night’s sleep. Another good day on the Loop in the books.
