Travel Day 28

After a rainy night in Scotia it was time to move on and we made a run for Amsterdam. The weather was fair with a little rain and light winds. After passing through three uneventful locks, we arrived at the Riverlink Park in Amsterdam and laid up on the wall. There was power but no water at our end of the wall. It was quite crowded and the wall was extremely high making it an adventure getting on and off the boat. There was a snack bar on property but it would not open up until the afternoon. As with out last stop there was a waterskiing operation that rocked the boats most of the day.

Amsterdam was inhabited by the Mohawk tribe and Iroquois Confederacy and then settled by the Dutch in the 1660’s. In the 19th century was known for carpet, textile and pearl button manufacturing. It continued to be a center for carpet-making in the 20th century.

We were waiting on a package at a local Amazon pick-up location but the store was closed today so we tried to get to the store and wait for our delivery. On our way to the store, I was notified that the package was unable to be delivered due to the store being closed so I had to reschedule the delivery for further up the canal. We stopped off at Guges Dogs for a quick lunch and headed back to the boat. The weather was poor so docktails were not in order.

It was off to bed and plan our next set of locks.
