After a great stay in Beaufort, NC its time to move on. Our goal was to get to an anchorage near Goose Creek, NC but with some weather conditions and traffic we had to adjust. We had to move the boat for a pump out and got going early knowing the wind and possible rain were in our future. The boat traffic was light as we headed through the channels to head north up the ICW running under the Beaufort Channel RR and US70 bridges. We were warned about the speeding fishing boats that would be running fast out of the Adams Creek Channel with total abandon of courtesy and respect for other boaters. We were not disappointed as we were greeted by two 60 foot sport fishing boats running 20 knots in the center of the tight channel waking everybody in sight. After securing everything that flew off the counter we continued north towards the Neuse River. The wind continued to grow out of the north and a light rain beat down on the isinglass. We entered the Neuse River and headed north east I finally put the boat up on plane to make up some time.
After a rough ride through the Neuse River and considering the future weather we decided to get a slip at the R.E. Mayo Seafood docks in Hobucken, NC . It turned out to be a great decision because as we entered the creek we got behind a barge running 5 knots in the tight channel and there was no way we were going to attempt a pass. On approach to the dock at RE Mayo we were contacted by the US Coast Guard who wanted to board us for a safety inspection. Since we were within 30 yards of our dock they allowed us to tie up before they boarded. They guys were very friendly and professional and were stationed just ahead of the Hobucken Bridge which was about 1/4 mile away. After a successful inspection we completed our shutdown and properly securing our boat to the Pier. The docks are just a lay along wooden pier with pylons. There was a considerable current and minimal tide change. There is no power so we ran the generator to heat up the boat. We checked on at the ship store where we were met with a very friendly woman wo charged us a whopping .40 cents a foot. There was plenty of fresh seafood for sale including giant shrimp that were at least 6 inches long. We settled in for an uneventful night, the rain stopped we were never waked by passing boats. I would highly recommend this spot especially after crossing the Neuse River.

As a side note the posts will be labelled as travel days so when we stay more than one day in a location I will not post them as separate days.
