Travel Day 54 Campbellford

It was an 0800 start for our short run to Campbellford. We had to traverse 2 single locks and one double lock. The weather was great again with light winds. There were small communities along the river with a couple tight channels with small rock outcroppings with channel markers on them. The last set of locks for the day were 11/12 Ranney Falls with huge doors and water cascading through the doors like a waterfall. We were greeted by Bill and Sarah from Coconuts and Steve and Edie from Brand New Day who jumped on our boats for the final mile of the day into Campbellford where we laid up on the east side of the river.

Campbellford is a cool little town with restaurants along the river and a park and bike paths that run south to the Ferris Provincial Park. During our stay here we rode our bikes to the park and crossed the suspension bridge over the falls into the park and through all the bike paths.

We had dinner as a large group at Capers Tap House and we visited the Dooher’s Bakery which is known for it’s donuts and tarts. we also walked down to the World’s Finest Chocolate Outlet Store for our chocolate fix. Docktails on the wall were great with a pot-luck dinner. Tom and I took a bike ride/recon run down to lock 14 and then stopped at the Dockside Bistro located on the river. The Bistro had a nice outdoor seating area with a great view.

Overall the visit to Campbellford was enjoyable with great people.
