Travel Day 56 Peterborough

After a long day yesterday it was finally time to head to Peterborough. The forecast showed heavy rain and wind so our short trip will but fun. We arrived at the Peterborough Marina early after going up the Smith Mills Lock and turning west on the Otonabee River.

The Peterborough Marina is in the center of town with shopping and restaurants within walking distance. We topped off the fuel and pumped out the boat before heading to our slip.

Peterborough is home to Trent University and Fleming College. There was a very large homeless population and the area around the marina was quite run-down. I did however venture out for lunch and an overdue haircut. We joined Beachside for a nice bike ride to the Peterborough Lift Lock and stopped off at Riley’s Pub for lunch which turned into Dockatails due to the storm that finally showed up with flooding rain and lightning. After a few games of billiards and another bike ride lock recon with Tom we returned to the marina before another storm cell blew through filling the marina and river with debris. Several of the local streets flooded so bad cars were stranded.

The weather killed any chances of any marina get together so it was off to bed and expectations of the long awaited lift lock.
