After a quiet night on the hook with great friends it was time to cut lines and head towards and anchorage near Clapperton Island which was only about 55 NM. We retraced our cookie tral out of Baie Fine along the rock walls and through the tight channel into Frazer Bay where we had a chance to open up the engines to blow out some carbon from the turbos’ The boat was running better than it has in a while which is probably the change in prop pitch I had done in Killbear, then Murphy’s Law kicked in and the starboard engine lost rpm’s and all I could get was 1400. We were trying to make the 1100 opening at the Ontario Hwy 6 Swing Bridge. If we didn’t make the opening we would have to wait another hour but with my dinghy davit issues I could only run under 10 knots or on plane at 16 knots otherwise the dinghy would drag in the wake. We pressed on as much as we could and luckily made the opening along with six other boats. We were able to secure a spot at the Port of Little Current Marina and we would forgo the run to and anchorage and find a mechanic or fix the problem with the engine myself.

After tying up on a t-head in a strong current and wind it was time to find the problem with my starboard engine. After a quick look I discovered that the 3″ turbo intake hose had separated from the turbo leaving a gap causing a loss in rpm’s. I had the same problem repaired before starting the loop but that mechanic is in South Carolina so I tried finding a local mechanic to no avail. I removed the clam that was the culprit but damaged it in the process so I tried a few local shops for the clamp with-out any luck. I had several thinner clamps that would have to suffice but the hose was damaged. Don on Gemini had gasket material that I gave me the ability to temporarily repair the clamp and I found some fuel filters and changed the remaining filters I missed in Killarney.

After what looked like an easy day that turned into fixit day it was time to clean up and head to dinner with a few loopers at Elliot’s Restaurant a cool little place within walking distance. The weather was getting worse so it became an early night after dinner and off to the boats.
