It was another day of getting up early to time the lock out of Smiths Falls. We were about an hour early so we tied up along the wall before the lock and enjoyed a nice breakfast. Beachside joined us on the wall along with a Canadian couple. After locking through it was through a tight canal then across the Lower Rideau Lake followed by the Big Rideau Lake to the town of Westport. There was a strong breeze off the bow all day but the wind did assist in docking at the Westport Municipal Marina.

The Marina consisted of long layalong docks on a small almost submerged island. The docks were about 4 inches above the water so fender placement was fun. The fenders had to be in the water. After settling in Maria and I too a long walk to the Scheuermann Vineyard Winery for lunch and a glass of wine. Most of the restaurants were closed so we walked back through town got a well deserved ice cream cone at the Vanilla Bean’s Cafe and Creamery. There was a live band scheduled at The Cove Inn but we decided to go back to the boat and relax.
